Workshop Description
We will discover the world of clowning. Alongside having a lot of fun, we will explore the history of clowning and take a closer look at why we, as human beings, laugh and how laughter is connected to failure.
We will explore the logic of play and the mechanics of good slapstick, while discovering how failure can become a powerful and playful tool on stage.
Will you know what clowning is after this workshop?
I think not.
And that is exactly where the fun begins.
We will play with classical clown scenes, improvisation, and different approaches to failure. Together, we will ask: What do we want to say through our play? What happens when things go wrong?
For some time now, I have been researching ways of bringing political ideas into clowning. This research will also influence our shared exploration. We will look at how clowning can question, challenge, and play with the world around us.
The workshop is an invitation to experiment, fail, laugh, play, and discover together.
